10 years of inspiration in flight. Come celebrate with us in an evening of love, laughter, and aerial antics. Presenting a retrospective of our work from the past 10 years with acts from some of our favorite shows, featuring the choreography of Suzanne Kenney, the company, and long time collaborators Nicole Pearson, Tanya Burka, and Andrew & Erika Adams.

Sunday's show will feature performances by our recreational students, apprentices, and our company. 

Join us before the show on Sunday for our Community Event Day: circus games, contests, and aerial feats for the whole family.

High Art: A Surreal Portrait of the Soul

In celebration of it’s 10th year, Pendulum is pleased to be partnering with the Portland Art Museum to present High Art: A Surreal Portrait of the Soul.

High Art builds on Artistic Director Suzanne Kenney’s reputation for creating bold, sophisticated and daring multidisciplinary performance work. Each of High Art’s eight acts are inspired by a work of fine art from Dali, Klimt, Bosch, Degas and more.

Pendulum Dance Theatre is combining the invigorating spirit of an original musical score with the physicality of contemporary circus and the performing arts, to bring these concepts to vivid life before the audience. We have created custom designed apparatus that will allow us to create exquisite new aerial acts. The haunting score for High Art will be created with New York chanteuse Sasha Lazard, a long time Pendulum collaborator, and world renowned drummer, Ya'el.

High Art opens with the concept of a blank canvas, free of preconceived ideas, to show that we are born raw and open to all that life has to offer. As we navigate our way through life, we begin to paint upon the canvas, adding different veils that shape our personalities, perceptions and interactions. All too often, we build layers so thick that they begin to resemble armor; protecting and hiding instead of giving meaning. Like a painter, we must learn through experience how to strip ourselves of the excess barriers.

Echoing the human and artistic need to add layers without sacrificing clarity and authenticity, High Art offers a revealing look into the nuanced depths of the soul.
